NCC Value Statement

Our community does not repeat creeds, beliefs, or doctrines written many centuries ago by people living in worlds different from our own.

Instead, this is what connects our diverse faith community…

We experience doubt and questioning as a positive part of our journey, not presuming to possess final answers.  As individuals and as a community, we are ever emerging on our spiritual paths.

When we use the word “God,” we refer to the Mystery in which our days are set, a Mystery moving us to awe. We experience Divinity as a presence at the center of our being and all creation–a power and love that our logic cannot define nor our spirits deny.

We also experience inspiration through the beautiful mosaic of world religions and cultures, including through the life of Jesus - a human like us – whose example of putting love to work in our world is central to our faith.

Uplifting the worth of others by participating in the struggle for wholeness and justice embodies our lived faith as an open and affirming Community.  The quest for peace and upholding the sacredness of creation are integral to our theology and to our spiritual and social practices.

As a joyful, compassionate, and inclusive Community, we strive for the day when all people exist and identify as part of one beloved community.
